Privacy Policy for Dashmap iOS App Last Updated: 2025-08-19

Introduction Dashmap (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Dashmap iOS mobile application (the “App”) collects, uses, stores, and shares your information. It also describes your rights regarding your data and how you can exercise them. We follow applicable global data protection laws, including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), as well as Apples App Store guidelines for user privacy. By using Dashmap, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Overview of Data Collection and Usage Dashmap is designed with privacy in mind. We only collect the minimal data needed to provide and improve our services: Location and video data are only transmitted to our cloud servers in the event a severe crash is detected, for the purpose of emergency assistance and analysis. Even then, that crash-related data is deleted from our servers after a summary report is generated. Manually saved dashcam videos never leave your device; they remain stored locally on your phone unless you choose to share them yourself. Emergency contact information and limited personal details (such as your name and an emergency contacts name and phone number) are stored securely in our cloud database to enable automatic emergency alerts. Trip details (like route and location history of your rides) may be saved to support future features—such as personal ride logs or social sharing—should you opt to use them when available. Payment and subscription data is handled via trusted third-party processors (Stripe, Apple Pay, and RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your full financial information. We only record your subscription status (free or Premium) to manage feature access, without linking it to any personally identifying details. We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not use your data for advertising purposes. Any data we collect is used strictly to operate the Apps functionalities, provide emergency assistance, process subscriptions, and improve your experience. Information We Collect We collect several types of information, explained below: Crash Detection Data (Location & Video): If a severe vehicular crash is detected while using Dashmap, the App will use Apples Crash Detection API (available on iPhone 14 and later models) to trigger an emergency recording. In that event, Dashmap will collect your current GPS location and a short video clip (which may include audio) around the time of the incident. This crash event data is uploaded to our secure cloud server only for crash analysis and emergency response purposes. The uploaded crash video and location data are temporary once we generate an accident summary and notify your emergency contact, the raw video and precise location data are deleted from our servers. (We retain only a brief text summary or incident log for record-keeping and troubleshooting, with no video or identifiable location details.) User-Saved Video Clips (Local Storage): When you use Dashmaps dashcam recording feature during normal operation, all footage is recorded and saved locally on your devices storage. If you tap the save button to keep a clip (for example, to retain footage of an interesting event or incident), that video (and any audio it contains) stays on your phone. Dashmap does not upload or access these user-saved videos. They remain under your control on your device unless you choose to manually back them up or share them. We have no remote access to your on-device recordings. Location and Trip Data: With your permission, Dashmap uses your devices location services for navigation features (to provide turn-by-turn cycling or driving directions) and to record your route during each trip. The App may keep a log of your route maps, distances, and other trip statistics. This trip data is primarily stored locally on your device. However, Dashmap may securely upload and store your ride route details on our servers to enable future features such as personal ride history, safety analysis, or social profile sharing. Any such data uploads would be infrequent and only for the purposes you expect (for example, backing up your driving routes or enabling you to share a ride summary). We will ensure you are informed and, if necessary, obtain your consent when we introduce any feature that utilizes stored trip/route data. You can also request deletion of your stored route history at any time (see “Your Rights” below). Emergency Contact and Personal Information: To use Dashmaps automatic crash alert feature, you may provide us with limited personal information, including your own name (or nickname) and the phone number (and name) of your chosen emergency contact. We store this information securely on our cloud server so that, if a crash is detected, our system can quickly notify your designated person. Specifically, we may send them an SMS text message or phone call containing your name, the fact that a crash was detected, and your location at the time of the incident so that they can assist or dispatch help. We do not use your emergency contacts information for any purpose other than to send emergency alerts. We will never share or sell these contact details to third parties, and we will not spam or otherwise contact your emergency person except for the intended safety alert. You may update or delete your emergency contact info at any time via the Apps settings or by contacting us, and if you disable the crash alert feature, we will delete or stop accessing that information. Device Identifiers and Account Data: You are not required to create a personal account with an email or username to use Dashmap. Instead, when you use the App, we generate a unique user identifier (for example, a random ID associated with your device or installation) to keep track of your settings, saved data, and subscription status. This ID is technical data and is not linked to any personal identity like your name or email. We do not collect your email address, physical address, or other contact info for a user account (unless you separately join our mailing list or contact us for support). The App may also collect device information such as your device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (e.g., device ID or advertising identifier) for analytics and compatibility purposes. These identifiers help us ensure the App functions properly across different iPhone models and iOS versions. We do not use them to track you across other apps or websites, and we do not tie them to your real-world identity. Usage and Diagnostics Data: We may collect information about how you use Dashmap and how the App is performing. This can include analytics data such as the features you use, the length and frequency of your app sessions, crash logs, and other diagnostic information. For example, we might log when crash detection is triggered or if a video recording error occurs, to investigate and fix issues. This usage data helps us improve Dashmaps functionality, reliability, and user experience. Wherever feasible, we use this data in an aggregated or de-identified form. Any diagnostic logs or analytics we gather are not linked to you personally they do not contain your name or contact information and are used solely for product improvement and debugging. You can opt out of sharing usage analytics by adjusting any in-app settings (if available) or your device settings for app analytics. Payment and Subscription Information: Dashmap offers premium features through paid subscriptions (e.g., weekly, monthly, or annual Premium plans). If you choose to subscribe or make a purchase, we will process some information to handle the payment. We do not collect or store your full credit card number or payment account details on our own servers. Payments in the App are processed securely by third-party services: If you subscribe via Apples in-app purchase or Apple Pay, the transaction is handled by Apple Inc., and Apples privacy policy applies to the payment information (such as your Apple ID, billing address, or Apple Pay details). We do not see your credit card or bank information; Apple provides us only with confirmation of payment and necessary details like the type of subscription purchased. If we offer payment via Stripe (for example, through our website or for special promotions), your payment details (card number, etc.) are transmitted directly to Stripe, a certified secure payment processor. Stripe may collect billing information such as your card number, expiration, CVC, and possibly your name or email for receipt purposes. Stripes handling of your data is covered by Stripes Privacy Policy. We do not store your sensitive payment details; we only receive a payment confirmation or a token from Stripe to activate your subscription. We use RevenueCat as a subscription management service. RevenueCat helps us validate App Store receipts and manage your subscription status (free vs. Premium) across devices. RevenueCat generates an anonymous user identifier for our app that is used to track your subscription entitlement. This identifier does not include personal information like your name or email. RevenueCat may store non-personal data such as purchase receipts (to confirm youve paid) and the anonymous ID. This allows us to know whether you have an active subscription. We do not link this data to your real identity. RevenueCat does not share your data except to provide these services, and they operate in compliance with privacy laws. (For more details, you can refer to RevenueCats privacy documentation on their website.) In summary, the only subscription-related data we keep is an indicator of whether you are a free or paid user and the type of plan, so that Premium features can be enabled. No user-identifiable financial information is ever attached to your profile in our system. How We Use Your Information We use the information we collect for the following purposes, and we ensure that we have a valid legal basis for each use: Providing and Improving the Service: We use collected data to operate Dashmaps core features. For instance, your location data is used to provide navigation and to record your trip routes. Crash sensor data, along with location and video, is used to detect accidents and respond appropriately. Video footage (when saved by crash detection) is analyzed to generate a crash summary (e.g., determining the likely time and location of impact) that can help you and your contacts understand what happened. We may also use your general usage patterns and diagnostic data to improve Dashmaps performance, fix bugs, and develop new features. This use of your data is based on our legitimate interests in providing a functional, high-quality application and on fulfilling our contractual obligation to deliver the features you expect when you use Dashmap. Emergency Assistance: If a crash is detected, we use your provided information to automatically contact your emergency person. Specifically, we will use your emergency contacts phone number to send a text message and/or initiate a call with an automated voice message that includes: your name (or identifier), an alert that an accident was detected, and your location coordinates or a map link. We use your location at the moment of the crash to direct help to the right place. This processing is done in your vital interest (to protect your life and safety) and with your consent given when you enable the feature and provide contact info. After handling the crash event, we do not continue to use or retain that precise location or video (beyond the immediate aftermath analysis and notification). Local Dashcam Functionality: All continuous video recording and trip logging happens on your device. If you save a clip manually, it remains on your phone for your personal use. We do not access or use these local recordings in any way unless you explicitly share them with us (for example, if you email a clip to our support team to report a problem). In such a case, we would only use that shared clip to address your support request and then delete it. Future Social or Profile Features: We may use stored trip details (like where you rode and when) to enable future features that you opt into, such as compiling your personal driving/cycling logbook, showing statistics on your profile, or allowing you to share certain ride achievements with friends. If and when these features roll out, we will provide in-app explanations and choices. Any public or social sharing would be strictly opt-in and under your control. Until then, any route data we store is kept private and used internally only to develop and support these upcoming features. Payments and Subscription Management: We use information from Apple and our payment processors to confirm your purchase and manage your subscription benefits. For example, if you buy a Premium subscription, we receive a confirmation so we can unlock Premium features in the App for you. We might use your subscription status internally to send you occasional reminders within the app (such as that your subscription is expiring) or to differentiate features (ensuring free users see the correct limits, and subscribers get full access). We do not use your payment information for any purpose other than processing the transaction you requested. We also maintain records of transactions (amount, product, date) as required for accounting and legal compliance (e.g., tax regulations). Communicating with You: If you contact us with a question, feedback, or support request (for example, via email), we will use any personal information you provide (such as your email address or phone number) solely to respond to you and resolve your inquiry. We may keep a record of correspondence to help with any follow-up issues and to improve our support process. We will not use your contact information for marketing unless you explicitly opt in to a mailing list or similar, and we will never share your contact details with advertisers. Legal Compliance and Safety: We may use or disclose your information if necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests (for example, responding to a court order or a lawful request by public authorities). We may also process your data if necessary to investigate or address fraud, security, or technical issues, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Dashmap, our users, or others. For instance, if a law enforcement authority lawfully requests crash data for an investigation, or if we need to enforce our Terms of Service due to misuse of the app, we might use relevant data to the extent legally permitted. We will only do so within the boundaries of data protection laws and, where required, will inform you of such disclosure. Sharing and Disclosure of Information We understand that your data is important, and we treat it with care. We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the few situations described below, all of which are intended to provide the Dashmap service to you or comply with the law: Service Providers and Partners: We employ a few trusted third-party companies and services to facilitate our Apps functions (collectively “Service Providers”). These include: Emergency Communication Services: If a crash is detected and an alert must be sent, we may use a third-party SMS gateway or calling service to deliver the emergency message to your contact (for example, a service that sends text messages or phone calls on our behalf). In such cases, the service will receive the minimum data needed (such as your emergency contacts phone number, your first name, and your location coordinates) to dispatch the alert. These providers are contractually bound to use that information solely for sending the emergency communication and not for any other purposes. Cloud Hosting and Data Storage: We use secure cloud infrastructure to host our servers and databases (for example, Amazon Web Services or similar reputable cloud providers). Any personal data stored in the cloud (such as emergency contact info or crash data during an incident) resides on servers protected by strong security measures. Our cloud providers may technically have access to stored data as part of maintaining the service, but they are not allowed to use or disclose it except as needed for hosting. Payment Processors: As noted, if you make payments outside of Apples in-app system, we share data with Stripe (card info, payment amount) as necessary to process transactions. Stripe is a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. We also share limited information with Apples App Store (e.g., an identifier for your purchase) and with RevenueCat (purchase receipts and an anonymous user ID) to manage subscriptions. These partners only use your data for processing the transactions and validating subscriptions. Analytics/Crash Reporting Tools (if used): We may use built-in analytics or Apples developer tools to collect diagnostic information. At present, we do not use any third-party analytics SDK that collects personal data. If this changes, we will update this policy. Any analytics or error-reporting service we use will be configured not to receive your personal details. For example, Apple provides Crash Reports and usage analytics that are aggregated and do not include user-identifying data by default. Each of these Service Providers is vetted for strong security and privacy practices. They are only given access to data necessary for their function, and they are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for providing services to Dashmap. Emergency Situations: In the event of an emergency (e.g., a detected crash), we share relevant information with your designated emergency contact automatically, as described earlier. We may also provide information to first responders or medical personnel if necessary to protect your vital interests (for example, if the authorities contact us during an emergency and request information to assist you, and if we have relevant data like your location or emergency contact on file, we may provide it). Such sharing would occur only in urgent circumstances where it could save life or prevent serious harm, consistent with applicable law. Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process (such as a subpoena, warrant, or court order), or to comply with regulations. We will carefully review each request to ensure it has a lawful basis. Unless prohibited by law or unless we suspect a violation of law, we will try to notify you of such requests before disclosing your data. We may also disclose information to enforce our Terms of Service or to assert and defend against legal claims. Business Transfers: If Dashmap (or our company, DashMap Limited) is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, investment, restructuring, or sale of assets, your information might be transferred to the parties involved in that transaction as part of due diligence or the transfer of business assets. If such a transfer happens, we will ensure the recipient of the data commits to the same level of privacy protection outlined in this policy. We will also notify you (for example, via an in-app message or email, if possible) of any change in data ownership or usage as a result of a business transaction, and outline your choices at that time. Importantly, we do not sell or rent your personal information to third-party companies for their independent marketing or advertising purposes. We also do not share any user data with social networks or advertisers. Any sharing that occurs is strictly for providing the Dashmap service (as listed above) or as mandated by law. In all cases, we endeavor to share the minimum information necessary for the specific purpose and to anonymize data when feasible. Third-Party Services and Links Dashmap integrates with a few third-party services to function. Here is a list of key third parties we work with and what for, as discussed above. We encourage you to review their privacy policies as well, since your interactions with them (even through our App) are subject to their terms: Apple (App Store & Device Services): Our App is distributed through Apples App Store. Apple may collect data related to your device and App usage (for example, via app analytics or the “App Tracking Transparency” settings, if applicable). If you use Apple Pay or an in-app purchase for subscriptions, Apple processes the payment and may collect payment information. Crash Detection is an Apple iOS feature; our App uses Apples SafetyKit/Crash Detection API to receive crash alerts from the device this happens on-device and Apple does not receive those sensor readings themselves on their servers, but the feature is built into iOS. For information on Apples privacy practices, see Apples privacy policy. Also, using Dashmap on iOS means you agree to Apples terms as well (like their end-user license agreement). Stripe: Handles any credit card transactions outside the App Store. Stripes privacy policy covers how they protect payment data. In short, Stripe may collect your payment card details and billing info on their secure forms. We receive a confirmation token from Stripe but not the card number. Learn more at stripe.com/privacy (or the privacy page in your region). RevenueCat: Provides subscription management for our in-app purchases. RevenueCat may process purchase receipts and generate an anonymous identifier for your account. They do not receive your personal details beyond whats in a purchase receipt (which could include an order ID and country and maybe an email if you provided one to Apple for receipts). You can read their privacy information at revenuecat.com/privacy. We have configured RevenueCat to use its anonymous user IDs, meaning we do not send them any of your personal info. Maps and Navigation Providers: Dashmap uses mapping data to provide navigation. If we utilize Apple Maps services for routing and maps, then your location queries are handled by Apple in accordance with their privacy policy (Apple Maps is designed so that location look-ups are not associated with your identity). If we use another map provider or geocoding service in the future, we will update this section. Currently, all navigation is done through the app using iOSs native frameworks, and no location data is sent to third-party mapping services outside of what is necessary to show you the map (and that is typically handled by Apples system). Emergency SMS/Call service: As noted, we may use a third-party service (for example, Twilio or a similar communication API) to send SMS or automated calls to your emergency contact. Such services will inevitably handle the phone numbers and message content (which includes the location and crash alert). We ensure that any such service is reputable and compliant with privacy regulations. They act only as a conduit to deliver the message and are not permitted to store or use the data beyond that purpose. We do not control third-party websites that you might find through our App (for instance, if in the future we allow sharing a link to a trip and you follow that link to a web service, or if our website has links to blogs or social media). This Privacy Policy applies only to Dashmap and our processing of your data. If you navigate to external sites or services, their policies will apply. Data Retention We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Different types of data are kept for different periods: Crash Event Data: Video clips and precise location data uploaded due to a crash detection are kept on our servers only briefly. Specifically, once the crash summary report is created and the emergency notification is sent out, we delete the raw video footage and detailed location information that were collected for that incident. This deletion typically occurs shortly after the event (in real-time or within a few hours at most). We may retain a basic incident log (e.g., “crash detected on [date] at approx location [city or area] involving user [internal ID]”) for our records and to improve crash detection accuracy, but this log will not include personal video or identifying details beyond perhaps a coarse location or device sensor readings. If for some reason a crash video or data must be retained longer (for example, if you request us to keep it to assist you with insurance or for troubleshooting), we will only do so with your explicit consent. Manually Saved Videos: These are stored on your device indefinitely (or until you delete them) and are never transmitted to us. Therefore, we do not retain them on our servers at all. If you delete the app or your phones data, those videos could be lost unless you have separately backed them up (which is under your control, not ours). Emergency Contact and Personal Info: We will retain your emergency contacts details and any personal info (like your name for the alert) for as long as you continue to use the crash alert feature so that we can send alerts if needed. If you update or remove an emergency contact in the App, our server will update or delete that information accordingly. If you decide to disable the emergency contact feature or stop using Dashmap entirely, you can request deletion of this data. Upon such a request (or after a prolonged period of inactivity as determined by us), we will delete your stored contact information from our cloud database. In any case, we periodically review emergency contact data and may purge information that appears to be outdated or no longer associated with an active user. Trip and Route Data: Any route history data stored on our servers for future features will be kept only as long as necessary for those features or for backup. If you have an account or identifier with us, your ride history might be stored until you request deletion. If you prefer us not to store this data, you may contact us to opt out or delete it. We will also automatically delete or anonymize old route data if we no longer need it and are not actively using it for a feature. We aim to retain route records only to enhance your experience (for example, giving you access to past ride summaries) or to improve our services (like refining safe route suggestions through aggregated data, in which case individual identities are removed). Subscription and Transaction Records: We keep a record of your subscription status and purchases for as long as you are a subscriber and for a reasonable period thereafter. Transaction logs (amount, date, product) are retained as required for financial reporting, audits, and tax obligations typically up to 7 years or as mandated by applicable law. If you cancel your subscription, we will mark your account as free, but keep the historical purchase record for our financial records. If you request deletion of all your data, we can delete personal data associated with you, but may need to retain certain transactional data if required by law (we will anonymize it if possible). Device and Usage Data: Diagnostic logs and analytics data are generally retained for a shorter period. Crash logs or similar diagnostic data might be kept for a few months to track and fix issues, then either deleted or stored in aggregate form. Aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics (e.g. total number of crashes detected in a year, or average app usage time) may be kept indefinitely as they no longer contain personal data. When we no longer need personal information for the purposes described, we will delete, destroy, or anonymize it in a secure manner. If it is not possible to fully anonymize or remove (for example, if backups are stored securely), we will continue to protect that data and isolate it from active use until deletion is possible. Data Security We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it: Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS encryption. This means that whenever location information, crash videos, or any personal details are sent to our cloud, they are securely encrypted in transit to prevent eavesdropping. Additionally, any sensitive data we store (such as emergency contact info) is encrypted at rest on our servers or within our database. For example, we may encrypt phone numbers and other personal identifiers in our database, so that even if the data were accessed without authorization, it would not be easily readable. Access Controls: We restrict access to personal data to only those team members and service providers who need it to operate or support the App. Dashmaps team is small and trained on confidentiality obligations. Access to the production database or servers that contain personal information is limited and protected by strong authentication (e.g., SSH keys, two-factor authentication). Our service providers are also required to implement strong security practices. For instance, if we use cloud services, we rely on their robust physical security and encryption protocols. Storage Practices: Your data is stored on secure servers which may be located in data centers in the United States or other jurisdictions with adequate protections. We choose reputable hosting providers that maintain high standards of security (such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2 compliance). We also employ firewalls and monitoring systems to detect and prevent unauthorized access to our systems. Any data stored on your device by the App (such as videos, or cached maps) remains under the security protections of iOS we recommend that you maintain a secure lock on your phone to prevent unauthorized access to any information Dashmap stores locally. Testing and Updates: We regularly update our app and backend systems to address security vulnerabilities. We monitor for potential threats and may employ techniques like penetration testing or code audits to strengthen our defenses. If we discover any security issue, we will act promptly to fix it. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law, and we will take all necessary steps to mitigate the issue. Please note that no security measure is 100% perfect. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. It is important for you as well to use a strong passcode on your device and keep your Dashmap app updated to the latest version to benefit from the latest security enhancements. If you suspect any unauthorized access or have concerns about the security of your data, please contact us immediately (see “Contact Information” below). Your Privacy Rights and Choices You have rights and choices regarding the personal data that we collect about you. Dashmap is committed to upholding these rights for all users globally, regardless of where you live. These rights include: Access and Portability: You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. This typically includes data like your emergency contact info, any route/history data stored on our servers, and basic account or subscription information. We can provide this in a commonly used electronic format. If you are an EU/EEA or UK resident, this is part of your GDPR right of access and data portability. Correction: If any personal data we have is inaccurate or outdated (for example, your emergency contact changed their phone number, or we recorded something incorrectly in your trip data), you have the right to have it corrected. You can update certain information through the App (e.g., change emergency contacts in settings). For any other corrections, contact us and we will rectify the information. Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. For instance, you can ask us to delete your emergency contact data, your stored route history, and any other personal identifiers we have associated with you. We will honor such requests, and erase your data from our systems, provided we do not have a legal obligation to retain it. Note that if you request deletion of essential information (such as your emergency contact or all your location data), some features of the App (like crash alerts or trip history) will no longer function. If you later resume using those features, we may need to collect the data again with your consent. California residents (under CCPA) also have the right to request deletion of their personal info that we have collected, subject to certain exceptions allowed by law. Opt-Out of Data Sharing or “Sale”: Dashmap does not sell personal data to third parties. We also do not share data in a way that is considered a “sale” under CCPA. Therefore, we do not offer a “Do Not Sell My Info” link because we simply do not sell or monetize your data. If this ever changes, we will update our practices and provide a method to opt out. In terms of data sharing, if you wish to opt out of any discretionary data sharing we do (for example, if in future we integrate analytics or if you dont want your route data to be used even internally), please contact us. We provide privacy settings where applicable; for instance, you can disable sending of diagnostic usage data by adjusting your device settings for analytics. You can also choose not to provide certain permissions (like location or motion sensors) note that doing so may limit app functionality (e.g., if you deny location, Dashmaps navigation and route recording wont work). Withdraw Consent: In cases where we rely on your consent to process data (for example, if we explicitly ask your consent for a new feature that stores your data), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. If you previously allowed Dashmap to collect something (say, participating in a beta feature that uploads route data), you can change your mind and we will stop that processing. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we already performed, but it will stop future processing of the relevant data. Object or Restrict Processing: In certain situations, you have the right to object to or ask us to restrict our processing of your data. For instance, if you believe we are processing your data on the basis of legitimate interests and it impacts your rights, you can object, and we will consider your request. You can also ask us to temporarily restrict processing if you contest the accuracy of your data or have another issue pending resolution. For example, EU users can object to processing of their data for direct marketing or for purposes based on public interest/official authority or our legitimate interests. (However, Dashmap currently does not do any direct marketing with user data.) Non-Discrimination: If you exercise any of your privacy rights, we will not discriminate against you. For California residents, this means we will not deny you service, provide a different level of quality, or charge a different price because you exercised your privacy rights. Dashmaps core services and pricing are the same regardless of any privacy choices you make. (Do note that if you request deletion of data necessary for a service, we simply may not be able to provide that service e.g., if you delete your emergency contact info, we cannot perform crash alerts. But we will inform you if any requested deletion will affect service functionality, and the choice is still yours.) Authorized Agent Requests (CCPA): If you are a California resident, you may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf (such as requesting info or deletion). We will need proof that the person making the request is authorized to act on your behalf. Typically this would mean the agent providing your written permission and verifying their own identity, or you providing a power of attorney. We will also likely verify directly with you that you made the request, to prevent fraud. To exercise any of these rights or choices, you can contact us using the information in the “Contact Information” section below. Please clearly describe your request. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests (to ensure we dont modify or release data to the wrong person). For example, we might ask you to confirm something through the App or reply from the email or phone associated with you. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe as required by law (within 30 days for GDPR requests, and for CCPA requests, typically within 45 days with the possibility of a 45-day extension). There is no charge for making these requests, unless they become excessive or repetitive, in which case a fee might be permitted by law (we will inform you beforehand in such a case). International Users and Data Transfers Dashmap is a global service. While our primary user base may be in [e.g., the United States, Europe, etc.], we want to ensure our privacy practices meet a high standard for all users worldwide. When you use Dashmap, your information may be transferred to and processed on servers located in countries different from your own. For example, we may use cloud servers in the United States, the European Union, or other regions. This means that your data could be stored or processed in a country that has different data protection laws than your home country. However, no matter where your data is processed, we will protect it as described in this Privacy Policy. Dashmap Limited is headquartered in Hong Kong (and also operates from the United States for development purposes), and we comply with applicable laws regarding international data transfers. If we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland to a country that is not deemed “adequate” under data protection laws (such as to the U.S. or Hong Kong), we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. These might include using European Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other lawful mechanisms to ensure your data remains protected to EU standards. We also rely on the fact that our processing is necessary to provide you the services you request (performance of a contract) and to satisfy our legitimate interests in operating a global service, in a way that does not override your rights. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to our facilities and those third parties with whom we share it as described above, which may be located outside of your country. We will always take steps to ensure such transfers comply with applicable privacy laws and that your personal data remains safeguarded. If you have questions about international data transfer or need more information on the safeguards we use, please contact us. Childrens Privacy Dashmap is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions, as required by law). The App is intended for use by adults (for example, drivers, cyclists, and other vehicle operators) and not by young children. If you are under 13, please do not use Dashmap or provide any personal data to us. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the applicable age threshold without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as soon as possible. Parents or guardians who believe that their child may have provided us with personal information can contact us (see below), and we will promptly investigate and remove any such data. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise their childrens app usage and educate them about safe practices online. Should our policy regarding children change in the future (for example, if we create a feature specifically for teens with parental consent), we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and comply with all relevant laws such as the U.S. Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or similar regulations. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make any significant changes, we will notify you by appropriate means. This may include: posting the updated Privacy Policy within the app or on our website, updating the “Last Updated” date at the top, and/or providing a pop-up or notification in the App regarding the change. In certain cases, if the changes are substantial or if required by law, we may seek your explicit consent to new processing or provide an opt-out opportunity. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Continuing to use Dashmap after a revised Privacy Policy has become effective indicates that you have read and understood the latest version of the policy. If you do not agree with any updates to the Privacy Policy, you should stop using the App and can request that your data be deleted as described above. We will always indicate the effective date of the latest version of our Privacy Policy at the top of the document for transparency.
